After a non productive morning, my tournament partner, Gerry Brousseau find a bunch it beautiful bass on a reed island on the northern shore of Lake Okeechobee. Frog fishing at its best! Our only issue was than we caught a bunch of big bass but in the process,we lost as many as we caught! Lots of really cool topwater strikes!

This is the weekly update for the 2nd week of June! I’ve been busy packing for my upcoming trip to Mexico. Big jigs, spinnerbaits, worms and jig spoons are doing good right now. I finally got my Bass Boat ready. New move trolly motor by power pole, the rite-bite system for my Lowrance active target forward facing sonar and brand new Super Start batteries. I’m all set for just about anything! I ...

In my experience, Blue Cypress Lake is the most beautiful lake in Florida! Some of these trees are nearly 500 years old add in hundreds of nesting Osprey and a jillion bass and you have a special place you’ll want to see for yourself!

Great bass fishing day with a fine student
Переглядів 4,5 тис.21 день тому
Ronnie, my fishing partner from LA is an excellent student, catching nearly every bass that bit. Normally, without the proper technique, anglers only catch about 1/3 of the bass that bite a shiner but Ronnie did everything right and hooked up with about 90% of the bass that bit! No giant bass today but we ended up with41 bass for the day with a dozen from 4-6 pounds! A great day on the water!

People ask me all the time, what’s the best month for bass fishing in Florida. Well Jan, feb and March is good for the simple reason that the northern bass fishing is non existent but May is a far better time to fish! Right now frog fishing is on fire and I made two films last week on Headwaters and Okeechobee with my son Scott and my granddaughter Hilary! Plenty of bass over 5 pounds! Also, th...

Back to the Basics fishing Old School

I’m back in Maryland where I grew up, fishing farm ponds and back to the basics! No 75,000 dollar bass boat, no forward facing sonar, just a couple of lures in a pocket and a spinning rod! No, I’m not catching monster bass but when I was 12 years old a 1 1/2 pounder was a trophy to me and now years later, considering the nostalgia, it’s still a trophy!

Переглядів 2,5 тис.Місяць тому
On two different trips both guys got their PB bass with me but today we are using a different technique, freelining shiners in deep water on light tackle. Using mostly smaller 3-5 inch bait and 20 pound braid on a spinning rod, we really light up the bass!

Big bass in windy conditions
Переглядів 3 тис.Місяць тому
Three guys I call the Georgia Boys fishing with me last week for two days and we really caught them good in very windy conditions! The first day it blew up to 40 mph and we had 15 bass from 5-almost 10 pounds. I could hold with my power poles or my anchor mode with my move trolling motor, cast shiners and lures down wind to hydrilla edges and drop offs. The second day was less windy and we caug...

Great Florida Orange grove fishing!
Headwaters must be still closed Roland.
Mans was having so much fun😂 you could see how happy he was after catching each fish, that’s awesome to see.
Roland Martin taught me to fish(via his youtube videos) with a Texas rigged yamamoto senko (297 Green Pumpkin) on a 04 EWG hook and My fishing has never been the same. I have caught more bass since I found his videos during covid then I had in my entire life (44 years old in 2020). I catch tons of bass on mono line and often on braided line. a key factor that I also learned from Roland Martin is that you need braid when your fishing areas where fish will get into plants and grass etc as you reel them in. In those conditions your mono might break if your bass gets into a bunch of grass etc.
I've never seen anyone bury the barb of the hook slightly under the worm. I've always seen the barb put thru the bottom of the worm then back up and bury the barb into the top of the worm. His way seemed like such an easy method just plant of the barb into the bottom no need to go up and thru. The worm lays super flat where as the other method you do have to play with it a little. Hope I made sense, thanks Mr. Martin always watch you when I see you. You are the KING of bass fishing!
Another nice vid. You're a great teacher Roland.
Crazy question. Out there on that lake. Do you have problems with the gators bothering you while you fish?
Every time you fish with grand kids it's a tournament win for you you are happier than anything when she caught that bass
Top water fishing is the best in my opinion. Here where I fish, my favorite.is chain pickerel. They are ferocious on top water. Love it!
cool
Hey Roland do you have any advice fishing a worm in the summer. I usually fish a drop shot on a 6in robo worm and have lots of strikes but lately bass don't seem to want it. I'm thinking of going to the senko.
🐸🔥
I can catch bass on a mouse all day long, I absolutely love it. But I've never had any luck with frogs. I've actually never even caught anything on a frog. Not from lack of trying tho. It's just not a good bait for me.
Love the excitement of the top water strike. Thanks Roland.
Nice fish action and two great friends there. So fun to watch!
Ogni contributo aggiunge un sapore unico al discorso, come le spezie esaltano un capolavoro culinario.💕
Man I live on lake O and to hear that about Scott and Gov DeSantis is great!! This lake is a jewel and deserves to be treated as such. We've got to stop the spraying and keep lake levels lower!! Thanks Roland and Scott for speaking out
Keep them coming Rollin we love you
Nice!
Fishing icon.
This guy is a national treasure.
Why is he referring to the “power” of the rod as the “action”? Can be confusing for beginners who don’t know the difference.
Wow, is that the boat doctor?
Man, he is good, but he's funny as hell! Great video, nevertheless !
"Drop a log." 🤣🤣🤣
Roland I’ve watched you since I was knee high to a tadpole, have always loved what you have done for the sport and the industry
Roland, you are really up on the technology and You're an incredible boat rigging man. And one of the greatest fishermen of all time. 👍🎣🇺🇸
Nice job Craig!
I love that type of shirt that roland is wearin...very comfortable, very versatile in a variety of conditions and plenty of pocket space. I own lots of them and the long sleeve versions are killer!
i know it is strange but i use a bead on my texas rig and it keeps the grass off and stops the grass from pulling it down
Thank you so much for sharing this very informative moment i got more ideas about this, looking forward to your upcoming videos
Take some pliers and bend the hooks a few degrees up on them frogs. Guarantee you won’t loose them bass like that again.
WTBS Roland Martin and Orlando Wilson were my idols! Still are! Aloha from Hawaii Mr. Martin! Son!!!

OPEN SPILWAY GOOD TIME
Been watching Roland for about 25 years and I still learn something new everytime I watch.
I was litterally standing there at the hatchery yesterday... This is a special place in MO
Can you bring me back my eliquis prescription for less than $650.00? I hope you catch some trophy fish.
Mr. Martin, always great to see a video from you! I can see you’re doing well! Tight lines my friend. Hoping to book a trip with you in the fall

Awe cute kid
Hey Roland somewhat of a new angler just curious what you think about light action rods and how to catch good size fish with them
